The primary goal of the bill (Reg. No. 7407) is implementation of clauses 33 and 303 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982 ratified by the Law of Ukraine of June 3, 1999 concerning the status and regime of the contiguous zone, and regime of protection of an archaeological and historical nature found at sea.
The bill supplements the Law "On the State Border of Ukraine" with a new provision, which defines the term "contiguous zone of Ukraine." Delimitation of the contiguous zone between Ukraine and the states, the coasts of which are opposite or adjacent to the coast of Ukraine, if effected in line with the international agreements of Ukraine ratified by The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
